An AC that won’t keep up, water around the indoor unit or a heater that won’t start are all reasons to arrange service. Tiger Temperature can find the cause, explain your options and give you the price before work begins.

Severe weather is part of life on the coast, so this page also covers what to do with your system before and after a storm.

01

Before and after a storm

Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. Before a storm, clear loose items away from the outdoor unit. Afterward, look before you restart.

  • If the outdoor or indoor unit was in floodwater, keep the system off and have it inspected before use
  • If the unit was hit by debris, moved off its pad, or wiring looks damaged, leave it off
  • Don’t open panels or handle wiring or refrigerant lines yourself
  • If you’re unsure whether the equipment was affected, leave it off and ask for an inspection; water damage isn’t always visible
02

Repair or replace after damage

Some storm damage is repairable; some isn’t. Equipment that was exposed to floodwater often needs replacement rather than routine repair, and any assessment should follow the manufacturer’s requirements; we won’t give a blanket diagnosis without inspecting it. If replacement makes sense, we’ll size the new system to the house and check that the ductwork can deliver the airflow it needs, rather than simply matching the old unit.

Questions we hear

Houma HVAC questions

Does Tiger Temperature serve all of Houma?

We serve the west side of Houma only, on this side of the tunnel and the Twin Spans. If you’re not sure whether your address is covered, call 985-492-7295 to confirm before booking.

Is it safe to run my AC after a hurricane?

If floodwater reached the equipment, debris struck it or wiring may be damaged, keep the system off and have it assessed by a qualified technician before use. If you’re unsure whether it was affected, leave it off and ask for an inspection. Don’t open panels or handle wiring or refrigerant lines yourself.

Are heat pumps a good fit for Houma homes?

A heat pump cools in summer and heats in winter with one system. Whether it fits your home depends on your current equipment and ductwork, and we can walk you through it.

Can I get a second opinion on a replacement quote?

If you already have a written estimate from a Louisiana state licensed HVAC company, we offer a free second opinion. Mention this offer at the time of booking.
